In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the first manned space flight, Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson will perform a duet with U.S. astronaut and flautist Catherine Coleman, who is also a member of “Max Q,” a Houston band made up of astronauts. The two will play Tull’s “Bouree” via video link from the International Space Station, where Coleman has been since December. Anderson, who will be performing onstage in Perm, Russia, donated the flute that Coleman will play. Coleman claims she will play in Anderson’s classic one-legged stage stance — certainly a challenge in zero gravity. Contending with the 4-second transmission delay on the video link will be an additional challenge the duo will have to surmount.
