inSync reader David S. asks for suggestions on dealing with dust around the studio, particularly on mixers. Here are several suggestions from Sweetwater’s Service Gurus:
- We’ve found using a good, old-fashioned feather duster daily works well for keeping dust to a minimum. A good duster will make getting in and pulling dust out from around all the knobs and sliders on a mixer fairly easy.
- For large flat surfaces, wipe them down with a clean, lint-free cloth and Glass Plus (or similar product, avoid products that leave a residue) every few days.
- One thing that can really help is an electrostatic filter on your HVAC. Standard air filters remove about 8% of airborne particles, a good electrostatic filter can take out 20%, and some of the new hi-tech models claim to remove 50-80% of atmospheric particulate matter!
