Today marks the opening of the 121st AES convention/tradeshow. As always, Sweetwater has all the up-to-the-minute news on all the hottest new gear at the 2006 Show, which is taking place in San Francisco at the Moscone Convention Center. Editorial Director Mitch Gallagher has put on his most comfortable shoes, armed himself with a digital camera and a video camera, and sharpened at least a half-dozen pencils, just so he’ll be prepared for anything. The Sweetwater AES Report can be found right on our home page (Sweetwater.com).
Our exclusive coverage begins today and runs right through the weekend. For those who have never been to an Audio Engineering Society (AES) Convention, it’s quite cool — it’s one of few pro audio tradeshows that are open to the public. There are manufacturer booths and exhibits, as well as many educational opportunities, paper presentations, seminars, panel discussions, and much more. It’s your chance to get the inside story on the newest innovations straight from the manufacturers and experts.
By the way, if you’re at the show on Saturday, Mitch will be conducting live interviews with some leading lights in the pro audio industry, right in Sweetwater’s booth (#1414) at the show. Stop by to watch the interviews and to say hello! Here’s the schedule:
- 1pm Craig Anderton (author, journalist, musician, technology expert)
- 2pm Dave Lebolt (VP/general manager, Avid/Digidesign)
- 3pm Russ Berger (World-renowned studio designer, president of the Russ Berger Design Group)
- 4pm EveAnna Manley (president, Manley Labs)
- 5pm Roger Nichols (7-time Grammy-winning engineer/producer, president, Roger Nichols Digital)
We’ll be posting video highlights from those interviews right here at Sweetwater.com, so if you can’t make it to the show, you can still get in on all the fun.
