Q: I’m using PreSonus Studio One to record and mix my project, but I’ve got a weird problem: Somehow my master fader is stuck in mono! Everything is panned center and when I move the pan controls on the individual tracks, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong?
A: There are a couple of things that could be causing this. First, you may have switched the master output to mono. There are three small buttons above the master fader. The left one turns the click on and off for the master outs, the middle one sets the click volume, and the right one sets the master out to stereo or mono. If that button has an icon with two interlocking circles on it, you’re in stereo. But if it is a single circle in red, you’ve switched to mono (technically, dual mono, where the same signal is feeding both outputs). (See Fig. 1 and 2.)

Another possibility is that you have inserted a mono plug-in into the stereo output, which converts that output to mono. Try removing any plug-ins you have on the master outs and see if that solves the problem.
