String Tree

This is a small piece of hardware fitted to a guitar’s headstock that’s designed to place downward pressure on strings just past the nut. Fender used this design in a number of their models, mainly because their headstocks are not at an angle to the fingerboard (Gibson models, for instance, have angled headstocks). Some models use two string trees, one for the two highest strings and another for the next two strings, however, most new models and reissues use only one.
