Cubase’s easy operation and wealth of creative options has made it a favorite for computer-based audio recording. The PC version of Steinberg’s latest Cubase is now in at Sweetwater. The Cubase SX boasts advanced (and practically limitless) undo and redo features, sample accurate automation, virtual instruments and VST effects (including a great analog virtual synthesizer powered by virtual analog synth wizards Waldorf) and tons more.
Propellerhead Software has announced the highly anticipated release of Reason 2.0, an upgrade to their popular flagship music software program. New features include: the Malstrom Graintable Synthesizer: A new invention from Propellerhead that combines granular synthesis with wavetable synthesis. The NN-XT Advanced Sampler: A new powerhouse sampler packed with useful features to build stunningly realistic instrument patches. Enhanced sequencer features: In Reason 2.0, the main sequencer breaks free from the rack and can expand fully across the screen or be resized and moved, even to a second monitor. And there are many new tools to make this already flexible sequencer even more flexible. All modules now feature syncable LFO’s. And it now runs under Windows XP and Mac OSX. Ultrafunk has released three of their Sonitus:fx line of audio plug-ins for Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP. The Sonitus:fx series consists of ten DSP plug-ins for use in Sonic Foundry Sound Forge, Steinberg’s WaveLab and Cubase, and Emagic Logic Audio, among other programs. All the Sonitus:fx plug-ins support DirectX and VST plug-in architectures natively, and also support VST plug-in automation.
