Speaker Surround

The speaker surround, along with the spider, forms the suspension of a speaker driver. The surround is the soft ring on the woofer that is glued to the speaker cone on the inside and the speaker basket on the outside. The surround flexes, allowing the cone to move when the speaker operates. Usually made of foam or rubber, a speaker’s surround may deteriorate and disintegrate over time, but can be easily repaired.
