Cakewalk made a huge announcement today: an Alpha version of SONAR OS X will be released this fall! “Ever since SONAR appeared, Apple users have been asking for a Mac version,” states Cakewalk CTO Noel Borthwick. “We’re excited to explore SONAR for OS X, and open up our award-winning Windows software to a brand-new audience of music creators.” Along with this free download, a dedicated forum will solicit feedback on the program and provide support.
“Alpha,” of course, means a very early version of the software — earlier even than “beta,” which is typically the final testing version before the software is officially released. Cakewalk made it clear in their announcement that part of the reason for releasing this Alpha version is to gauge interest from Mac users, so if you’ve been wanting SONAR on your Mac, download it and give it a try! Stay tuned, we’ll let you know when SONAR for OS X Alpha is available.
