We’ve heard the rumors; the whispers saying, “Digidesign is about to release a new version of Pro Tools.” Generally, they’re simply speculation, but in this case, it’s true. In fact, on October 7th at the AES convention in New York City, Digidesign will indeed debut the all-new Pro Tools HD 7 software for Pro Tools|HD systems, Pro Tools LE 7 software for Pro Tools LE systems and Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software for Pro Tools M-Powered systems. This is a cross-platform release, supporting Windows XP and Mac OS X computers.
Pro Tools 7 lets you take advantage of all-new Instrument Tracks for improved integration with virtual instruments and MIDI sound modules. You can also experiment freely using new real-time MIDI processing features. Users can work with REX and ACID files and run more instances of many RTAS processing and instrument plug-ins. Pro Tools 7 also has a reorganized, streamlined menu structure along with a new Tools Tips feature. Whether you’re working in a pro studio with Pro Tools|HD, a personal studio with Mbox 2 or on the road with an M-Powered system, Pro Tools 7 software looks to be a significant step up.
Also, anyone who purchases a Pro Tools|HD, Pro Tools LE, or Pro Tools M-Powered system on or after September 1, 2005, is automatically eligible for a free upgrade to the corresponding version of Pro Tools 7 software for their system (i.e., Pro Tools HD 7 software, Pro Tools LE 7 software, or Pro Tools M-Powered 7 software, respectively). Users who purchased a software upgrade to Pro Tools TDM 6.9.x or Pro Tools LE 6.9.x on or after September 1, 2005, are also eligible for a free upgrade to Pro Tools 7 software.
