Rotating Head

A type of tape head that spins as the tape goes by, increasing the effective speed of the tape. Rotating heads were originally developed for video tape recording, which required higher tape speeds to accomodate the higher bandwidth requirements of the video signal. Rotating heads were later used for digital tape recorders for the same reason.
