Roland just delivered their new SH-32 desktop synthesizer to our doors. This is a very cool 32-voice polyphonic, 4-part multitimbral analog modeling synth with built-in effects designed to recreate classic sounds of vintage Roland synths (think the SH Series synthesizers and the TR drum machines) as well as new sounds. You get plenty of knobs, buttons, and sliders for realtime control, and the sound is that big, fat, full sound that you didn’t think they made any more.
IK Multimedia has posted a page of tips and tricks for SampleTank users. You can also download their MP3 demo and sequencer session from the site. They promise additional tricks will be posted monthly. If you haven’t had a chance yet to check out SampleTank you should make time. It’s a terrific solution for people wanting a software based sound module and it comes with tons of excellent sounds that cover all the basics.
Yamaha has a new version of their standard setting 02R mixing coming. The new 02R96 will sport (you guessed it) 24-bit/96 kHz operation and will come with more than five times the processing power of its predecessor. Call your Sweetwater Sales Engineer for detail about availability.
