Replacing the Tonewheels in NI’s B4 II

With real Hammond organs, if you didn’t feel you were getting a good tone any more, you had to have a technician replace all the filter capacitors and recalibrate the tone filter circuits. This got expensive fast. In Native Instruments’ B4 II virtual instrument, you can actually change the sound of the organ by replacing the tonewheel generator. This is the equivalent of removing all 91 tonewheels and replacing them with new ones. How do you do that? It’s simple (and doesn’t require a technician). You just have to go into the Expert View mode, where you’ll find the Tonewheel window just above and to the left of the standard performance controls on the lower part of the screen. New tonewheels are available from the simple menu you’ll find there.
