For those who believe there’s no substitute for the rich, full sound of a true analog synth, Dave Smith has just begun shipping the Prophet ’08. If the name sounds familiar, Dave Smith was the man behind such amazing instruments as the original Prophet 5, the Prophet VS (which went on to become the Korg Wavestation) and the Prophet 2000 12-bit sampler. All of these were originally released (or were close to being released) by Dave’s company, Sequential Circuits. Now, by popular demand, Dave gives us the Prophet ’08, an 8-voice synth with a 100% analog signal path. But this is no reissue or just a warmed-over Prophet 5. It’s a brand new instrument with every feature you’d expect (like velocity and aftertouch) and several you simply had wished for, like an arpeggiator, a gated 16 x 4 step sequencer plus the ability to split and layer sounds. The Prophet ’08 also introduces modulation capabilities that are far deeper than anything Dave produced at Sequential.
The front panel bristles with 52 knobs, red backlit mod and pitch wheels, a 5-octave keyboard and wood end panels. Want a Prophet ’08 of your own? Well, the first few just arrived in our massive new warehouse with many more to follow. Dave is also producing (and hand-signed) a limited number of Prophet ’08 Special Editions with rare zebrawood end pieces. Word is there will only be 400 of these. So give your Sweetwater Sales Engineer a call now for complete details or to order a Prophet ’08 of your very own!
