They tested, took notes, did a few more tests, took even more notes. Finally they did another round of testing, then headed for the nearest Starbucks for a little “pick-me-up.” The net result? Propellerhead is the first company to announce that all the its software products are fully compatible with Windows Vista. All applications comply to Microsoft’s “Works with Windows Vista” guidelines, however users should be aware that they may need to update the drivers for their audio hardware, keyboard controller, or other controller when upgrading to Vista. Here are the details:
- Users of Reason 3.0.4 (without ReWire), ReCycle 2.1, and Reload 1.0.1 can upgrade to Windows Vista, but will require administrative privileges the first time any or all are installed and launched in Vista due to enhanced security. Users upgrading from an earlier version of Windows to Windows Vista will need to reauthorize either their specific product, which requires the original CDs as well as the serial number.
- ReWire and REX are also compatible with Windows Vista. However, as a result of the enhanced security features in Vista, the way ReWire and REX need to be installed has changed, so Propellerhead has created a special installer for ReWire and Rex for Vista users that can be downloaded from the Propellerhead website.
