Right from its start almost 15 years ago, Digidesign has pretty much set the bar for music production hardware and software pretty high. Today, thousands of Pro Tools systems around the world are being used to produce chart-topping hits and best-selling albums. But just when you thought the best can’t get any better, Digidesign announced it will be bundling the Celemony Melodyne version uno essential free of charge with its Pro Tools software for Mac and PC starting in September.
Essential is a slightly slimmed down version of Melodyne uno. It works very much like a sample editor but offers users a number of unique audio editing functions that allow manual editing of intonation and timing. And despite the fact that this version is free, Melodyne’s audio quality is uncompromised. There are ultra precise Correct Pitch and Quantize Time macros, however the expert tools for detailed editing of things like formants and vibrato are only available in demo mode. But here’s some good news: an upgrade to the full version of Melodyne uno is available for just $99.
