Pick Rake

Also called simply “raking,” this technique is performed by dragging the pick across one or more muted strings leading up to sounding a note. Raking imparts percussive spice to notes by adding “click” sounds before the note that is being sounded. If done incorrectly, it can be mistaken for sloppy sweep picking. This technique is mostly used in rock and blues genres and subgenres.
