We’ve had a number of people inquire whether their options installed in a Kurzweil K2500 will work in a K2600. The answer, as usual, is more involved than a simple yes or no.
The PRAM upgrade for the two machines is different and not cross compatible. The ROM upgrades (Orchestral ROM1 and Contemporary ROM2) are cross compatible, but the object data for them is not. This means you can install a ROM1 or ROM2 board in the other machine, but you must be sure to load the proper object data floppy for your machine. The ROM blocks sold for the K2500 do not have the K2600 data floppies included and vice versa. Can Sweetwater provide them for you? Sure, if you purchased the stuff from us. The ROM block daughter board, which is required for ROM blocks, is NOT cross compatible between the two machines. The sampling options and hard drive mounting kits are also not cross compatible.
