The Fender Telecaster was originally called the Broadcaster, but Gretsch already had a drum set with that name. So for a short time, the word “Broadcaster” was cut off of the decals being placed on the headstocks. Eventually, Fender renamed the guitar, but any of the instruments that slipped through with only the Fender logo on the headstock were dubbed “Nocasters” by collectors. Even though it wasn’t a real model, Fender has reissued this “in-between names” version of the Tele and even officially dubbed it the “Nocaster.”
