The new Hilo Reference A/D D/A Converter System from Lynx is said to “redefine the concept and functionality of the two-channel converter.” The Hilo comprises three units: analog-to-digital converter, digital-to-analog converter, and headphone amplifier. The Hilo features 12 inputs and 16 outputs:
- AES/EBU digital
- S/PDIF coaxial
- S/PDIF optical
- ADAT optical
- USB
- analog (XLR)
- word clock
- headphones
The internal 32-channel mixer allows any input to be routed to any output. The headphone output may carry a completely separate stereo signal from the D/A converter.
Hilo setup and operation is via a touchscreen monitor with easy-to-use menus and selectable meter sets, including vintage-style analog VU meters.
