Miss out on the Gretsch Limited Edition George Harrison Tribute Guitar? Only 60 were made, so they were definitely hard to come by. Fortunately, Gretsch has announced the G6128T-GH George Harrison Signature Duo Jet, a new Artist Signature model in their Pro line. (Actually, they announced the new model on our own Sweetwater Minute, during our recent GearFest event. Watch the entire thing here!) The Harrison Signature Duo Jet was modeled on the instrument that the legendary Beatles guitarist called his “first real decent guitar.”
The G6128T-GH includes all the modifications and appointments found on Harrison’s 1957 Duo Jet, which he purchased used in the early ’60s. These include a lightweight mid-’50s style chambered body, an all-black color scheme on the arched maple top, mahogany back and sides, and the back of the one-piece mahogany neck, a Bigsby B3C tailpiece with a black Phillips head tremolo arm pivot bolt, and an offset strap button on lower bout.
Other features include 3-ply body binding, single-ply neck/headstock binding, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with 12″ radius and hump-block pearloid inlays, two single-coil DynaSonic pickups, vintage-style “rocking bar” bridge with rosewood base, silver plexi pickguard, chrome-plated Grover tuners, Gretsch “G” arrow control knobs, chrome hardware, Harrison’s signature on the truss rod cover and a premium tweed case.
