If you’ve got (or are getting) a Roland VP-9000, you should look into the new V-Producer Software, a computer-based sequencing and encoding tool for the VP-9000 VariPhrase Processor. V-Producer software gives you “drag and drop” sequencing of VariPhrase samples including 6-channel mixing, effects routing and a Phrase Scope Window for more precise, graphic editing of Pitch, Time, and Formant. But that’s just for starters. The V-Trainer utility batch encodes .WAV/AIFF files from CD-ROM/hard disk or VP-9000 samples via Zip disk. You also get MIDI Clock and MTC sync, as well as song export to Standard MIDI File format. Available for Windows immediately; a Mac version is coming soon.
Hey! More free stuff is good right? Seems like some of the good software manufacturers are in the holiday mood. Take, for instance, Native Instruments, which has a free download of their SoundForum Synthesizer for Mac available on their website. The Sound Forum synth is a complete, analog-style synthesizer with two oscillators, ring-modulation, FM and Sync, LFO and multimode-filter. Developed by Native Instruments in cooperation with the Soundforum-Workshop of the German magazine KEYBOARDS, this synthesizer was generated with Reaktor and is based on the audio engine of Dynamo.
