In synthesis and sound design, a filter that is capable of functioning in any of a variety of ways. Multi-mode filters usually include low-pass, high-pass, and band-pass modes, and sometimes offer band-reject (notch) mode and resonance as well.
A multi-mode filter normally is controllable with individual adjustments for filter type, cutoff frequency, resonance, envelope amount, velocity sensitivity, keyboard scaling, aftertouch, breath controller sensitivity, and modulation.
