Our friends at MOTU have announced their latest audio interface, the Audio Express. The Audio Express is a 6-in/6-out hybrid audio interface — meaning it supports both FireWire and USB 2.0 connectivity. Compatible with both Mac and Windows PC, the Audio Express is aimed at personal studio recording as well as live performance mixing. Analog I/O on 1/4″ balanced connectors and two XLR/TS combi jacks is provided, as well as S/PDIF digital I/O, MIDI I/O, and a footswitch jack that can be programmed for hands-free operation of a variety of DAW functions. An 8-bus digital mixer routes and mixes all inputs to any output pairs, and four separate mixes can be created with or without computer playback tracks. Other features include stand-alone operation as a mixer, built-in timecode support through any 1/4″ input or output, 32- and 64-bit drivers for Windows and Mac, bus power via FireWire, and much more, all in a half-rack form factor.
