This time around we’re going to talk about using the PSA-1 with a virtual synthesizer to create unique sounds. It’s really pretty easy, considering that analog synths are typically amplified, and the PSA-1 is an amp emulator. We inserted Digidesign’s Hybrid soft synth (which sounds pretty good by itself) into an Instrument Track and chose a Bass Synth preset. After recording the synth part, we inserted the PSA-1, boosted the Buzz and Punch controls, and added some Drive. Suddenly the nice fat synth bass line had much bigger, in-your-face sound. And better yet, it sounded like a miked cabinet.
