In response to our recent TTOTD on powering and unpowering amplifiers (see TTOTD 10/28/98), inSync reader Steve K adds to following:
“Some of the better amps out there have huge filter caps that can take a long time to discharge. My Adcom amp takes on the order of a minute to discharge after I turn off the power. During that minute, it is effectively “on,” and an upstream transient will still pound the speakers.”
