A slight correction to last week’s tip about formatting drives for the Tascam MX-2424 hard disk system. We reported that in order for the drives to be recognized by a Mac they would have to be formatted on a Mac. This is what we had to do recently when configuring a multi-machine system for the Dave Matthews Band to take on the road. According to helpful sources at Tascam it turns out that it is actually sufficient to install Mac drivers even after the drives may have been formatted or recorded on the Tascam. They recommend Hard Disk Tool Kit 3.0 or higher for this. Either way, the DMB has been in pre-production (their first concert is tonight in Ohio) with them and say they are great machines. Looks good for Tascam.
