More On Audio Hum and Induced Noise

From inSync reader Jon R:

"…Be sure the hum you hear is actually a ground loop, and not induced noise being picked up from other sources like nearby transformers, AC cables, etc…

A recent issue of "inSync" (7/11/97), addressing ground loops, included the above statement. It reminded me of a time when I came across some hum in my radio production studio… introduced by putting the microphone too close to a video monitor! Since the monitor is in a fixed position, my solution was to turn it OFF during sessions that required placing the mic closer to it than was safe."

Thanks for the tip, Jon!
