This is a brand name for a thermosetting plastic made from a composite of linen, canvas, paper, fiberglass, carbon fiber, or other fabric. It was invented by George Westinghouse around 1910. It is a trademark of Norplex, Inc. The largest use of Micarta laminates is in electrical insulation and heavy equipment, however they,re also used for guitar fingerboards, nuts, and bridges.
