Celemony’s Melodyne software has probably saved thousands of vocal tracks from getting tossed in the trash. Melodyne version 2 was able to correct both pitch and timing problems, but it had a limitation: It could only work with monophonic sources. But now, Celemony has announced that Melodyne version 3 will be able to handle any audio, all the way to complex polyphonic tracks, thanks to a newly developed algorithm. This new version also allows for fully automatic audio analysis, as well as macros for the correction of intonation and timing errors. What’s more, there have been improvements made to the user interface, making the software even easier to use than ever. And since “time is money,” Melodyne 3 runs faster, getting the job done without long delays. The upgrade will be free for users who purchased Melodyne 2 after September 1st, 2005, or at a reduced price for those who purchased the software before that date.
