Well they did it – Mackie has finished the HDR24/96 hard disk recorder and it looks great. In many ways the HDR24/96 is the ideal marriage of hardware and software capabilities. It works as a stand alone 24 track recorder, but also has surprisingly deep (and DAW-like) editing capabilities. Quantities are still very, very limited (right now we are shipping orders from March and April), but for those on the list we want you do know there is light at the end of the tunnel. And for those who want to be on the list when the product is real now is the time to move.
If all goes well, those of you who receive inSync via e-mail shouldn’t notice a difference, but this week’s digest will be sent from a brand new system we’ve been installing and working with for the past few weeks. The most significant immediate difference will be observed by people using any of the automated functions such as changing addresses, canceling subscriptions, etc. Each message we send you will now be coded so you can respond and make changes to your account without having to send it from the address we have on file (this will be great for you who are using auto-forwarding services). The system will also have the ability to “hold” your mail if it gets several messages bounced from your account. We’ll explain all the details later. The good news for now is, this means we will ultimately be able to significantly enhance the service in the future by offering other forms of inSync or other types of e-mail updates. Meanwhile, please let us know if you experience any difficulties with your inSync mailing.
BitHeadz is now shipping Tempo Tantrum loops. Tempo Tantrum is a collection of drum loops and breakbeats specially treated for Unity DS-1’s Oscillator Stretch feature, which allows you to change loop tempo without changing pitch. The library includes the Unity DS-1 sample playback engine for integration with sound cards and sequencers; and will offer compatibility with Phrazer, which will begin shipping in a few weeks.
