Once version 1.1 software is released (which should be any day) it will work. This is probably why you’re getting confusing answers. It will work, but at the time of writing it does not. Version 1.1 will enable SMPTE I/O as well as full MTC functionality. These are the pieces that will make it happen for you. Once you have these capabilities in your machines you will be able to sync them together with either SMPTE or MTC. Since MTC is essentially SMPTE over a MIDI cable there’s probably no significant difference between the two so choose whichever method you’re more comfortable with, or whichever method allows you to integrate them with any other equipment you need to synchronize. All other things being equal, I prefer MTC because there are usually fewer variables in terms of audio levels and such that can potentially cause problems.
