Nothing can ruin your set faster than tripping over cables — not only are cables a safety hazard for the performers, it’s all too easy to pull over a piece of gear, break an input or output jack, or otherwise damage equipment.
- Try minimize the number of cables that are running from the front to the back of the stage.
- Bundle cables together whenever possible.
- Bring gaffer tape (not duct tape, which leaves behind a sticky mess) or a Gaff Gun with you and tape down any cable runs to hold them in place.
By minimizing the number of “cable speed bumps” on the stage and taping them down, you minimize the chance of taking a nasty spill in the middle of your set—and possibly damaging your gear to boot.
