Short for “lithium-ion polymer” — a type of rechargeable battery. These differ slightly from more standard lithium-ion batteries in that solid polymer composite electrolyte is used instead of a lithium-salt electrolyte. The advantage to LiPo batteries is lower cost of manufacture, more flexibility in shape and packaging, and durability. However, LiPo batteries may hold less charge than other types.
