Garritan Libraries, one of the most respected soundware companies, has launched an online orchestration course that’s based on Rimsky-Korsakov’s classic text, Principles of Orchestration, acknowledged by many colleges and universities to be the most authoritative text on the subject. If you want to be doing film scoring, composing for interactive games, arranging, notating, or teaching, it’s crucial that you understand orchestration. This online course embeds around 275 animated scores in 26 lessons, allowing participants not only to see the scores online, but to hear music as it follows the score. Although the course officially begins this week, it’s also possible to pick up the lessons at any point, review older material and participate in the discussions 24/7.
