Mackie’s d8b helped professional audio designer and longtime Mackie Digital 8•Bus (d8b) user Ed Greene take home an Emmy Award for Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Variety Show, Music Series or Special at the 54th Annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards last month. The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences recognized Greene, a 50-year industry veteran and dedicated d8b user, for his stellar work mixing the Opening Ceremonies of the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
Greene asked the Academy to recognize Mackie Designs with a certificate citing that the Mackie d8b played a key role in his success with the Opening Ceremonies, an event viewed by more than 3 billion people worldwide. “It worked flawlessly during the entire event,” Ed explained. “I first received a d8b not too long after they first came out and I haven’t stopped using it since. I love that desk. The engineering behind that desk is terrific, and the latest operating software for it is just fabulous. It is so much fun to use and, in terms of stability and for what it does, I can’t imagine it working any better for what I do.”
