Korg has thrown their hat into the guitar modeling processor arena by delivering the AX-100G. Before you scoff that Korg makes keyboards, not guitar processors, think again. Korg has been building very high quality studio processors for many years. They were one of the first to do an affordable discrete stereo reverb, one of the first to put S/PDIF digital I/O on a reverb, and of course one of the first to put a digital multi-effects processor in a keyboard. Also, keep in mind that Korg owns Marshall (yes, the people who make the legendary guitar amps). They really do know quite a lot about guitar tone and processing, which one listen to the AX-100G will confirm. Their proprietary REMS (Resonant structure and Electronic circuit Modeling System) does a great job of reproducing the complex tonal changes caused by the resonance of an acoustic guitar, the cabinet of a guitar amp, the effects of the air through which the sound spreads, and the electrical characteristics of a vacuum tube or transistor circuit (effects). You won’t be disappointed.
Pro Tools users (or potential users) who will be in or near the Chicago area next week definitely want to mark off some time next Thursday evening (12/21). Sweetwater will be downtown at the Hampton Inn showing the new Edit Pack controller for Pro Control. The edit pack is the new Pro Control module that includes a comprehensive set of one-button edit functions, joysticks, and a ton of other features that make surround sound work much faster and easier to control. Not sure if you need one? Check out the hands-on seminar and see for yourself. You can find details about times and location on our website in the Shows and Seminars section, or you can call our Chicago office at (312) 867-0250.
