As promised by yours truly in the above video lesson, here are the TABs mentioned. Figures 1 A & B are the ascent of a pretty “generic” chromatic-style exercise taught to a lot of guitarists. As you’ll see, once I’ve established the nature of the ascending pattern, I’ve included some (hopefully!) obvious, self-explanatory shortcuts, to ensure that this Figure isn’t 20 pages long!
And FIGURE 2 is the descent of the exact same pattern…with the same “shortcuts” once the nature of the pattern has been clearly established.
This done it’s now time for the main feature of this lesson: Kirk Hammett’s Diabolical Diagonal Workout! FIGURE 3 is the ascent
While FIGURE 4 is the descent…
Try performing FIGURE 3 and FIGURE 4 back-to-back with both articulation and accuracy… it’s surprisingly challenging, especially if you’re brave enough to use a metronome! Ditto FIGURE 1 and FIGURE 2. Oh yeah, and remember: use strict alternate picking at all times and, don’t avoid your pinky!!
Enjoy!?!?!
