Soundelux mics have been getting a lot of attention lately for their amazingly accurate recreations of some of the most sought after mics in the world. Their latest (and maybe the best yet) will be unveiled at the upcoming 119th AES Convention in New York. The Soundelux E47C totally nails the cherished “cardioid only” characteristics of the original 1950s-era, German tube 47. You know the one we’re talking about here.
Just like the original, the E47C displays a signature proximity effect that is sure to make it popular for close-worked male and female vocals. You can get a full 12dB of boost at 100Hz when using the E47C at a 1-inch working distance for that really big vocal sound, which has been used to great effect by such diverse artists as Frank Sinatra and Led Zeppelin. Talk about contrasts! When working at greater distances, the signature head grille sound of the original tube 47 produced a sound that made it the “go-to” mic for both solo and ensemble instruments, from loud, punchy brass to warm, intimate strings and the E47C accurately captures those “personality traits.”
The E47C is hand-built, and costs about half of the current market value of the original. The E47C features a NOS Telefunken Large Plate EF814k tube to deliver all the vintage warmth and distinctive sonics you’ve been searching for. But maybe best of all, replacement parts are readily available.
