MOTU has announced the world’s first hybrid FireWire/USB2 audio interface for Mac and Windows, the UltraLite-mk3 Hybrid. Either USB2 or FireWire offer full-featured operation and ultra-low bus latency. The only substantial difference is that the unit may be bus-powered via FireWire (including power for 48V phantom powering for microphones), where a power adapter (included) is required for USB2 operation.
The UltraLite-mk3 Hybrid includes all award-winning features from the earlier FireWire-only mk3, but adds computer-controllable pad and 48V phantom-power switches for the two mic inputs, simplified two-way pad switch (-20 dB or off), and an increased mic trim range (0-60 dB). It will carry the same price as the original UltraLite-mk3.
