Happy New Year!
Out with the old and in with the new. If you watch the news, the year 2003 was full of violence, loss of lives, wars, and disease. The year’s top news stories make Revelations from the Bible read like a children’s story – especially as 2003 comes to a climactic end with the introduction of a powerful earthquake in Iran, killing over 20,000 people. Here’s a quick recap of just a few of this year’s top news stories (the following are actual headlines from news papers across America and do not necessarily reflect the beliefs held here at Sweetwater):
- “US space shuttle Columbia crashes.”
- “The United States wages war on terrorism in Iraq.”
- “SARS ravages 32 countries and regions.”
- “Blackout hits the United States, Canada.”
There’s no doubt about it, 2003 was “busy” and our hearts go out to those who have been affected by these and other tragic events. Saying that, and at the risk of sounding idealistic, this year has had it’s share of triumphs as well. The economy continues to move in a positive direction, Saddam was captured on December 13th, SARS seems to be under control and well, you can fill in the blank from your own life. Sorting the good from the bad, the old from the new is an ongoing process that we’ll attempt again in 2004. If you keep your head buried in the news without coming up for air, you might have a difficult time of it.
So as this year comes to a close, your inSync staff would like to start the year off by soliciting good news. Not world news, but yours. What’s the single greatest thing you’ve accomplished in your studio, or in your gigs? Did you finish that project you’ve been working on all year long?
