Gibson Maestro Fuzz-Tone

Arguably the very first fuzzbox. The Maestro Fuzz-Tone was created almost by accident in 1962, when a faulty transformer distorted a bass guitar, and engineer Glenn Snoody and session guitarist Grady Martin shopped the circuit to Gibson. Gibson then lauched the Maestro FZ-1 Fuzz-Tone…and it flopped. It wasn’t until Keith Richards used it on “(I can’t get no) Satisfaction” that it became a success, and fuzzboxes have been a staple of the rock-and-roll sound ever since.
