Gibson Brands (parent company of Gibson, Epiphone, Stanton, KRK, TEAC/TASCAM, and other consumer and pro companies) has signed a letter of intent to purchase Cakewalk from Roland Corporation. Under Gibson, Cakewalk will have two separate divisions, one under the Cakewalk brand and handling consumer products, and one under the new TASCAM Professional Software brand, handling SONAR. The Cakewalk staff will remain headquartered in Boston.
