Fixed Bias

This is a technique for biasing output tubes in guitar amplifiers using a pot (potentiometer) to adjust negative voltage on the vacuum tube’s grid as compared to its cathode. Although this term is widely used, it’s actually a bit misleading, as true fixed bias amps typically have a bias that is adjustable, while cathode-biased amps are set and cannot be adjustable.
