F-spacing

This term refers to the polepiece spacing on DiMarzio humbucking bridge pickups made for Fender-type electric guitars, which have different string spacing at the bridge than do Gibsons. Because the polepieces need to be aligned as directly as possible under the strings for ideal output and string-to-string balance, it’s important to choose the right pickup for your guitar. DiMarzio uses the term “F-spaced,” while Seymour Duncan makes “Trembucker” tremolo-friendly humbuckers.
