Dummy Load

This refers to a simulated electrical load, frequently used in the testing of audio equipment or radio transmitters. Audio manufacturers commonly use dummy loads to test how an amplifier handles large power levels, so they don’t have to actually produce the loud sounds. Dummy loads are also used for guitar amplifier power attenuation.
