We saddened to report that Doug Fieger, lead singer of The Knack has passed away. Originally from Detroit, Fieger formed The Knack in 1978; a year later the group hit with “My Sharona,” which he co-wrote and sang. He said the song was inspired by his girlfriend, who was a powerful presence. The song went on to hit #1 despite the rule of disco at the time, and became a pop culture staple. The group continued to release albums and tour through the mid-2000s. Fieger battled cancer for six years before passing away. Our condolences to his friends and family.
