We’ve discussed this before, but we were reminded of its importance by our Tech Tip from yesterday: whenever you are doing critical listening that involves comparisons, you MUST match the volume levels of the items being compared as closely as is possible. Otherwise, the volume difference will skew what you hear. It is a truism that a louder signal tends to sound better to our ears when compared to a softer signal.
