Here’s another cool Kurzweil tip from Daniel Fisher, Sweetwater’s Chief Soundware Engineer:
Creating quieter effects on a K2000/K2000R: If you have an original K2000/K2000R, (as opposed to a K2vx or K2500), you can make its effects processor much quieter with a little tweaking:
The trick is to increase the levels (Lvl) inside each effect and then decrease the wet/dry amount in the each program until you have the same effects mix as you did originally.
For example:
Edit Program #12 Tine Elec Piano. Now, in a quiet room, slowly turn up the gain until you can hear the noise floor. (Don’t hit any keys too hard!)
Next, EDIT the program, and go to the Effects Page. Now EDIT the program’s effect (which is #1 Sweet Hall). You will notice on the right that the Early Level (EarlyLvl) and Later Level (LaterLvl) are both set to "7".
Change both values to "10" and SAVE the effect to 200. Now change the program’s Wet/Dry Mix from "45%" to "36%". SAVE this program to 200.
Now put #12 Tine Elec Piano on MIDI Channel 1 and #200*Tine Elec Piano on MIDI Channel 2. Use the CHAN/BANK buttons to toggle back and forth between them. Notice how much quieter the new program sounds even though they both have the same amount of reverb.
