Clavia has just released Nord Stage OS version 2.0, which adds some impressive new features and includes overall improvements to the entire instrument. The Software package consists of three parts: Nord Stage OS v2.0 (the basic operating system), Nord Stage Manager v2.0 (an application used to exchange and rearrange piano samples via USB), and Piano Sample Library v2.1 (which is the actual library with all the piano sounds). Updating to v2.0 requires updating the piano samples to v2.1, which includes a 32MB close-miked Steinway D and a 66MB “luxury version” of the Yamaha C7 with even more velocity layers. Other features and enhancements include:
- Piano voice allocation is greatly enhanced using an advanced algorithm that makes audible stealing virtually non-existent.
- The sustain pedal function produces a more natural sound.
- Two additional reverbs have been added (one stage and one hall).
- The delay effect has been enhanced and the tap tempo function now supports glitch-free setting of new tempos.
- Enhanced sound quality of the analog waveforms in the synth section.
- The synthesizer unison function now includes the classic 2-voice unison along with the original multi-voice unison.
- Output routing has also been enhanced. Route settings can be stored globally or independently with each program.
