Chromatic Tailpiece

The Synchromatic 400 “Chromatic Tailpiece” is (according to the company) “an exclusive Gretsch feature.” This guitar tailpiece is designed to compensate for differing string gauges, thereby reducing tension and equalizing playing finger pressure. Gretsch literature explains: “The tailpiece makes playing easier with uniform finger action.” Other manufacturers have come up with variations on this theme, but Gretsch was one of the very first to recognize the potential of this type of tailpiece.
